Certified Play and Creative Arts Therapist

"In Play Therapy, toys are the child's words and play is their language" - Landreth
Play is a child’s natural way of exploring the world, making sense of their experiences and expressing feelings that can be hard to put into words. In play therapy, children are given a safe and supportive space with a trained therapist to use play, creativity and imagination to work through worries, experiences and emotions. Through play, children can:

Explore and express their feelings safely
Develop new ways of coping and problem-solving
Build confidence and resilience
Strengthen relationships and social skills
Play therapy is especially helpful when talking feels difficult. It allows children to communicate at their own pace and in their own way, using toys, art, stories and creativity as their language.
Play therapy can support children facing a wide range of challenges:

Withdrawal or difficulty engaging with others
Anxiety or heightened stress
Low confidence or self-esteem
Behavioural difficulties
Emotional challenges, such as mood regulation
Difficulties with relationships or friendships
Experiences of abuse, neglect or trauma
Loss or bereavement of any kind
Challenges in social situations

I am a certified Play and Creative Arts Therapist based in Dorset with a passion for supporting children to feel understood, valued and empowered. I initially trained and worked as a primary school teacher, which gave me a strong understanding of children’s developmental needs and the challenges they can face both in and out of the classroom. This experience inspired me to train as a Play Therapist, so I could offer children a space that focuses more deeply on their emotional wellbeing. As a registered Play Therapist, I provide a safe, creative and understanding environment where children can explore their thoughts and feelings at their own pace. I use a range of therapeutic play and creative approaches, always tailored to each child’s unique needs. My aim is to work in partnership with families and schools, helping children to grow in confidence, improve relationships and thrive both at home and in the classroom.
My play therapy services are designed to support children facing emotional, social and behavioural challenges, providing them with tailored opportunities to express themselves and grow in a supportive environment.
